I’ve gotten a few emails asking me to write an easy 1-2-3 article on how to start a blog. No problem. For you beginners out there, there are only two things you need to buy.
First, you need a domain name to start a blog. I buy all my domain names for $8.49 per .com and $7.99 per .net at DomainShoe.com. Easy to use and very cheap prices.
Second, you need a web host. Web hosting is what gets your website live and online. Without it, you will only have a domain name with no blog or website. I highly recommend iPage Web Hosting with Free Domain Registration and FatCow’s 40% off web hosting
. You don’t need two web hosts, just one. Both provide basically the same service.
That is everything you need to buy. You can buy more but those two items (domain and webhost) are all you need to start a blog. Once you have a web host, just change the domain name servers of your domain (inside your domain registration control panel) to point to your web host, add your domain name to the web host control panel, and last install a WordPress blog on your domain.
